Born Galgagyork, Hungary. Vincze studied at the State School of Arts and Crafts at Budapest, then under Ede Telcs and finally in Rome (1935-7) after which he returned to Hungary.In 1938 Nazi persecution forced him to leave Hungary and he settled in England. Vincze set up a studio in London where he lived for the rest of his life except for annual visits to his house in the south of France. In 1948 be became a British subject.Vincze's reputation was greatly enhanced by the two medals struck to commemorate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. Overall he had a very busy career, principally as the maker of medallic portraits. Vince's sitters included: Sir Winston Churchill, President Harry Truman, Pope Paul VI, Yehudi Menuhin, Prince Karim Aga Khan and J B Priestley. He died at Magagnosc, France.
